History of Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a centuries-old form of medicine that has been shown to help prevent and manage imbalances and illnesses. It was first noted in the writing of the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine in 100 BCE. Knowledge of the body came through observation of living beings because human dissection was forbidden. During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion was published and is considered the foundation of modern acupuncture. It fell into the American mainstream in the 1970's when the US diplomats visited China.
